About Our Parish

Rapid growth in the Channahon area made it necessary for St. Mary's of Minooka to establish a mission church.

In 1974, Mrs. Anna Britz donated two acres of land and St. Mary's bought an additional three acres from Mrs. Britz. The Harper building was purchased from Joliet Junior College, dismantled and moved to the Channahon location of Route 6.

On the first Sunday in February 1975, Msgr. Seidl offered the first Mass in St. Anns Mission, in 1976, Msgr. Joseph Wagner was appointed Vicar of St. Ann to assist Msg. Seidl. After Msgr. Wagner resigned due to poor heath, Fr. Gerold Schubert, O.F.M. became resident priest; in June of 1982 Fr. Schubert requested that St. Ann Mission be raised to the status of a parish. This became reality on April 8, 1990. In 1994 Fr. Schubert retired and Rev. Richard Smith was appointed pastor.

Because of the working and planning of many parishioners, the dream of a larger church became a reality With God's love and assistance, the new building was officially dedicated on November 4, 2000.

In February of 2002 Fr. Jeff Stoneberg became the new pastor of St. Ann Parish
